On the evening of May 1, the semifinals of the “Guokong Cup” 2025–2026 Guangxi County-Level Football Super League kicked off with great excitement at Beiliu Stadium, as the Beiliu City team from Yulin, sponsored by Sanhuan Group, faced off against the formidable Haicheng District team from Beihai.
The match was kicked off by Chinese football legend and former national team captain Chi Minghua, and as soon as the whistle blew, both sides launched into a fierce back-and-forth. In the 25th minute, Beihai broke the deadlock with a well-taken free kick. Near the end of the first half, Beihai’s No. 65—nicknamed “Guangxi’s Bale”—dribbled down the flank and set up a teammate for another goal. At halftime, Beiliu trailed 0–2.
In the second half, the Beiliu team refused to be discouraged and launched a fierce counterattack. In the 55th minute, Lin Yongwang pulled one back for his side. From then on, Beiliu pressed forward in waves, but despite their dominance, they were unable to convert their chances, ultimately losing 1–2 and missing out on a place in the final. They will now face the Hepu team from Beihai City for third place.
