On the morning of April 28, Beiliu City hosted a speech contest for young workers to mark the International Labor Day on May 1 and the May Fourth Youth Day in 2026. The theme of the competition was “Youth at Work, Practical Action to Serve the Country—Answering the Call of the Times in the Name of Workers.” Numerous young employees from towns across the city, municipal departments, and enterprises and public institutions took part. Lu Xiaohong from the Administrative and Human Resources Center of Sanhuan Group delivered a heartfelt and moving speech titled “The Kiln Fire That Travels Thousands of Miles, Illuminating the Ceramic Brilliance of Youth,” earning first prize in the competition.

When Lu Xiaohong received the competition assignment, she had less than two days to prepare. Faced with a tight schedule and a heavy workload, she did not shy away; instead, she promptly drafted her speech, memorized it, and practiced tirelessly. In the end, with heartfelt sincerity and a poised, composed stage presence, she moved both the judges and the audience, winning first prize and showcasing the spirit of Sanhuan’s young professionals—rising to challenges and striving for excellence.

Lu Xiaohong’s Speaking Elegance

In her speech, Lu Xiaohong shared the inspiring story of Wu Feng, a young artisan at Sanhuan Group. After earning his master’s degree from Jingdezhen Ceramic University, Wu Feng resolutely moved to Beiliu and made it his home. Rooted in Sanhuan’s production frontline, he has designed and developed over 500 product lines. With exceptional technical expertise and an unwavering commitment to excellence, he has repeatedly represented Guangxi and Sanhuan in ceramic design and vocational skills competitions at various levels, consistently achieving outstanding results. In January of this year, he was honored as a “Yulin Craftsman.”

Lu Xiaohong chose the story of Wu Feng as the subject of her speech—not to recount some distant, unattainable personal feat, but to remind everyone that the spirit of craftsmanship is rooted in the steadfast dedication found in every ordinary job. It was precisely this spirit that deeply moved her, prompting her to bring this story from her own life to the stage and touch the entire audience with the simplest, most heartfelt words.
