Xinhua News Agency, Guangzhou, August 6 (Reporters Zhang Jianhua and Liu Dajie) - Reporters learned from the Foshan office of the China Ceramic Industry Association that the European Commission has officially determined the list of sampled companies for its anti-dumping investigation into Chinese ceramic enterprises on August 3. Three Chinese ceramic companies were selected, and a total of 11 companies, including related companies, are involved, an increase of 4 compared to the suggested sampling list released on July 23.
The Chinese ceramic companies selected in the official list are Dongguan Weimei Ceramics Co., Ltd., CAYEMNE Co., Ltd. of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Foshan Xinruncheng Ceramics Co., Ltd. Dongguan Weimei Ceramics Co., Ltd. involves 5 related companies, Foshan Jianyi Ceramics Co., Ltd. is included as a related company of Dongguan Weimei Ceramics Co., Ltd., and CAYEMNE Co., Ltd. of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region involves 4 related companies.
Compared with the suggested sampling list, the number of related companies involved in the official sampling list has increased from 7 to 11, with the addition of Foshan Xinruncheng Ceramics Co., Ltd. and its related companies. Qingdao Dia Ceramics Co., Ltd. of Shandong Province, which was included in the suggested list, is not included in the official list.
Lan Weibing, director of the Foshan office of the China Ceramic Industry Association, told reporters that companies on the sampling list should contact their lawyers to submit a short anti-dumping investigation questionnaire within 15 days and submit a long anti-dumping questionnaire within 31 days of the list's publication. Participating companies can actively resubmit their sampling investigation application to the EU side, striving to obtain market economy status individually and thus obtain a relatively lower anti-dumping tariff rate.
The European Commission announced on June 19 the formal initiation of an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese tiles. If the anti-dumping allegations are upheld, Chinese ceramic companies will be subject to punitive tariffs as high as 430.5%, and the EU ceramic market will close its doors to "Made in China".
It is understood that the companies selected for the sampling list are currently cooperating with lawyers to make relevant preparations and actively prepare for litigation in accordance with relevant EU legal procedures.
